Entry #1 - Why the phoenix?
Welcome to my first blog post. I felt it was important to begin by clarifying the symbol you see here, because no, it’s not a pigeon or just any bird. It’s a phoenix.
When I was searching for something that truly represents growth, change, and evolution, the phoenix stood out immediately. Although it is a mythical creature, it carries a powerful and timeless meaning: Resilience.
In psychology, resilience refers to the ability to cope, adapt, and recover from stress, significant challenges, or trauma. It’s not about avoiding hardship or pretending things don’t hurt. Rather, it’s the choice and the capacity to continue functioning and moving forward despite life’s difficulties.
Resilience isn’t fixed. It changes across time and situations, just as we do. The process isn’t easy, but it is meaningful. An often overlooked part of the phoenix is how there is a period of rest before rising from the ashes. I couldn’t think of a better metaphor for the beauty and necessity of therapy to help realize one’s own resilience.
Much like the phoenix; this space is intended to be that moment of rest to acknowledge, reflect, learn and discover before you’re ready to rise again. My vision for “Let’s Unpack That” is one of deep and personal transformation - where together, we build awareness, clarity, and self-compassion for the constantly changing phases in life.
If you find yourself at a point where life feels heavy, uncertain, or in transition, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Therapy can be that intentional pause, a place to rest, unpack what you’re carrying, and reconnect with your inner strength. When you’re ready, I invite you to step into this space with me. Together, we can explore your experiences, nurture your resilience, and support you as you rise into your next chapter with intention and care.
